Tamara Perry got her start in the creative neighborhood of Silverlake, Los Angeles, after entering a three-year apprenticeship in a local, innovative salon.
Tamara studied the Vidal Sassoon approach to cutting & styling hair, developing extensive knowledge of shaping various textures & lengths.
In early 2014, following a successful eight-year career as a senior stylist & educator, Tamara & her partner Vanessa opened Perry McGrath Salon, an inventive space dedicated to precision cuts & color.
Vanessa started her apprenticeship under British-trained color specialists in 1989, & from there worked in departmentalized salons such as John Freida & Sally Hershberger as a colorist & educator.
Her work has been featured in films, television & campaign ads for hair product lines. In 2014, she & her collaborator, Tamara Perry, have joined ranks & created Perry Mcgrath Salon in Los Angeles.
After winning Student Premier at the Sassoon Academy & apprenticing at Sassoon in Beverly Hills, Boyd became one of the founding stylists of Sassoon Seattle. In the first year of working she won an international competition called "Look of the Season". The winning cut was chosen from submissions all over the world.
Boyd styled hair for fashion shows & helped create looks for local bands in Seattle. Boyd is dedicated to helping clients & fellow stylists improve their knowledge about hair, a tool for peoples personal self expression.
Attention to detail and precision cutting techniques are at the heart of Jeannie’s forward thinking hairdressing. By combining experience from her degree in Fashion Design with her years at the acclaimed Art + Science salon in Chicago, Jeannie bridges the gap between casual function and inspired trends.
Now calling Los Angeles her home, Jeannie continues with advanced education at the Vidal Sassoon Academy and freelance editorial styling. Jeannie tailors each style to her client’s lifestyle and fashion sense. With easy maintenance as key, Jeannie ensures that each cut she crafts is effortlessly chic.
Growing up in the salon industry Ava formed a natural talent for hair at an early age. After graduating from Vidal Sassoon, Ava started her career apprenticing with many Los Angeles and New York celebrity stylists helping her create an eye for flawless hair. Inspired by beachy texture, Ava specializes in recreating natural highlights desired after spending time in the summer sun, and combined with her cutting techniques she can create the perfect length and texture. She thrives on creating lived in, effortlessly beautiful hair.
Lauren Pass graduated from the Vidal Sassoon Academy/Santa Monica in 2000 then continued her education at Planet Salon in Beverly Hills.
During her five years at Planet, Pass perfected the Aveda cutting & styling technique.
In addition to cutting hair, Pass is well trained in hair extensions, event hair and makeup.
She has styled for editorial work and award ceremony hair & makeup including the Academy Awards, Emmy's and the Golden Globes.
In 2009, Ekaterina Sycheva, a native of Russia came to the United States to embark on a creative journey.
Develpoing an interest in hair design, Sycheva attended the Vidal Sassoon academy/Santa Monica and graduated in 2015.
Ekaterina believes that "the service we provide involves a level of transformation that goes well beyond the haircut.
It's a beautiful feeling to encourage and assist clients in their self-expression."
Growing up, Natasha Scher's second home was her mother's salon. She was awed by the transformative power of beauty and inspired at how a new, fabulous style made people feel. Scher attended the Vidal Sassoon Academy and has been licensed for 7 years.
Natasha approaches each appointment with two things in mind: helping her client feel their best through flattering color, and preserving the health of their hair. From multidimensional blondes, extension coloring and unicorn shades to all tones in between. She brings confidence and a friendly yet keen ability to translate a client’s color inspiration into a look that begs for selfies. Natasha prides herself on developing color strategies that offer maximum pigment payoff with minimum maintenance, hair is kept soft and thriving no matter the color journey.
Allison Demoss has had an interest in hair design from an early age. Cutting & coloring her friends hair in middle school, she focused on creative haircuts. Demoss grew up with a love for music, working in numerous record stores. Thriving in a creative environment, she attended the Cinta Aveda Institute in San Francisco then graduated in 2015. Now settled in Los Angeles, Demoss is advancing her education with an apprenticeship at Perry McGrath Salon.
Ruby Woodward grew up in Detroit, with deep admiration for her hometown. She was educated, trained and mentored there.
Ruby's advanced education includes Redken 5th Ave, Schwarzkopf USA & Germany and L'Oréal professional of Europe.
At 23, an extended vacation to Europe led to her next career decision. Ruby was inspired by the German club scene, a very different standard of beauty, and the elegant androgynism of youth in Europe. The freedom to creatively explore her craft during those six years was formative.
At 30, she was ready to share her refined skills with Detroit again. Her understanding of color and shape always delivers; from bold reds to baby lights.
Ruby's approachable demeanor makes it easy to communicate, as she believes in empathy for her clients needs and clear communication through the process.
Newly transplanted to LA, she's excited to share her vision and create in the sunshine.

Ana Ayon is a musician, social activist and enthusiast of the beauty industry. She often does her own hair and those of her friends if she can. She is front of the house here at Perry McGrath and will provide you with hospitality.
